Summary: Geometry is the study of mathematics that is concerned with shapes, lines, areas, proofs, conic sections, and more. It takes these concepts, that were briefly introduced in algebra 1, and expounds on them, and lets students see how math is applied to the real world. Geometry helps develop certain thinking processes that are incorporated in future math courses, as well as in everyday life. It is a very ‘fun’ math that helps students to think deeply about certain things while allowing them the freedom to explore new concepts. Geometry is usually taken between algebra 1 and 2, although it is possible to take it after algebra 2. It is a 10th-11th grade course, and algebra 1 is a prerequisite for it.
